Public Forum with Area Legislators on Single Payer Health Insurance: What Is It, and How Will It Affect Us

Public Forum with Area Legislators on Single Payer Health Insurance: What Is It, and How Will It Affect Us
Sponsored by the Democratic Town Committees of Leverett, Pelham, and Shutesbury

When: Monday, March 25, 6:30-8:30 pm
Where: Pelham Elementary School Auditorium, 45 Amherst Rd, Pelham

What: What is single payer health insurance? Will it fix the problems with our current health system? Is it the answer to assure quality health care for all Massachusetts citizens?  What about Medicare for All?  Is there a difference? Can I keep my own doctor?  Will health care be rationed?  Will I pay more for health insurance than I pay now? What are the prospects for meaningful health care legislation here in Massachusetts any time soon?  Representative Mindy Domb and Senator Jo Comerford  will be joined by Representatives Lindsay Sabadosa and Natalie Blais to discuss the various legislative proposals now pending in the Massachusetts Legislature, including Rep. Sabadosa's  bill. There will be ample opportunity to engage with the legislators and get your questions answered. In addition, representatives from Medicare for All will be at the forum with information and handouts on costs and benefits of a single payer system. Before coming to the forum please consider watching Fix It: Healthcare at the Tipping Point, which discusses healthcare system problems and how single payer insurance proposes to remedy them.
