Open Mosque Day

Sponsored by the Hampshire Mosque Board of Directors

When:  Sunday, April 28 from 2-5 pm
Where:  451 Russell St, Hadley

What:  All community members are invited to attend this free public event, which is designed to offer an opportunity for non-Muslims to meet their Muslim neighbors, and to visit and learn more about the newly opened mosque in Hadley.
Attendees will have a chance to tour the mosque, learn more about its activities, ask questions, and meet with members of the Muslim community.
Musa Simon, a member of the Hampshire Mosque Board of Directors, says the event is “a simple way for us to build bridges of understanding and mutual respect with our fellow community members, and to embody the guidance of Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, who taught us: ‘By Allah, none of you truly believes, until you love for your neighbor what you love for yourself’.”
Visit My Mosque Day started in the United Kingdom in 2015, and quickly became popular across Europe, Australia, and the U.S.  Last year more than 20 mosques in Massachusetts participated in this annual event.  This is the first year Hampshire Mosque is able to participate, having recently opened the doors to its new location on Route 9 in Hadley.  The Islamic Society of Western Massachusetts, located in West Springfield, will also be holding an Open Mosque Day on this same date.
