Hiroshima-Nagasaki Commemoration on the banks of the Connecticut River

When: Tuesday, August 6, 5:30
Where: Unity Park Riverfront, 1st Street, Turners Falls

What: Organized by the peace task force of the Franklin County Continuing the Political Revolution, and co-sponsored by the Traprock Center for Peace and Justice, the Karuna Center for Peacebuilding and the Interfaith Council of Franklin County, the event will start at 5:30 pm with the formation of a peace symbol on the ground, made from participants’ flowers and banners. A circle will form at 6 pm, with a short program of remembrance and calls for nuclear disarmament. 

The organizing groups call for endorsement of the July, 2017 UN treaty to prohibit nuclear weapons and treaty and forge a path to total worldwide nuclear disarmament. (See: http://www.icanw.org/the-treaty)
